Within Funeral & Cemetery Services
The FTC's July 2012 guidance describes making funeral-arrangement decisions in advance without paying in advance. Suggested practice: keep a preferences or planning inquiry separate from a prepaid-contract purchase.
The FTC's July 2012 guidance says state laws govern funeral prepayments and protections vary widely. Some prepaid plans can be transferred, often at added cost. Suggested practice: identify the state, included goods and services, cancellation terms and transfer terms for the actual contract.
The FCA's guidance updated 6 March 2026 says to check that a funeral-plan provider is authorised and has permission to enter contracts and administer existing plans. For an AR or IAR, it says to check the principal for permitted services. Suggested practice: name the provider role precisely.
The FCA explains that the plan provider may differ from its seller: a funeral director acting as an appointed representative may sell its principal's plan and ultimately deliver it. Suggested practice: distinguish seller, provider and service-delivery roles in the offer.

Research scope
Benchmark status reviewed 11 October 2026.
The exact category cohort does not support a publishable AOV aggregate.
Median and middle 50% of account-level average order values. Each account value is purchase ROAS multiplied by cost per purchase in USD. Successful classifications, including manual corrections, with positive finite spend, purchases, ROAS and cost per purchase. Accounts are counted once with equal weight. Quartiles use linear interpolation. Root cohorts include direct root classifications and their child categories; exact-child cohorts exclude parent and sibling categories. The source selects the highest-spend coverage row per account among snapshots dated within the preceding 30 days; the underlying reporting period is not supplied. This is a dated aggregate advertising-data snapshot, not business-wide AOV or a census. Parent and sibling benchmarks are never substituted.
