What should an owner tell a boarding provider before a stay?

Share the pet’s feeding routine, favorite activities and relevant care notes in writing. American Humane’s boarding and sitter guide treats these details as a practical handoff, not an assumed standard at every facility.

How can an owner assess communication during a stay?

Ask in advance when updates arrive and how the provider can be reached. AKC recommends discussing communication methods during an introductory consultation; show each facility’s actual policy on its page.

What booking terms deserve a clear answer?

State the nightly or daily rate basis, drop-off and collection windows, and cancellation terms offered by the provider. AKC specifically prompts owners to ask rates and cancellation fees before booking.

What if the usual caregiver becomes unavailable?

Ask a provider to describe its backup contact and handoff arrangement. AKC recommends checking whether an alternate can fill in during an emergency; the answer must be facility-specific.

Benchmark status reviewed 11 October 2026.

The exact category cohort does not support a publishable AOV aggregate.

Median and middle 50% of account-level average order values. Each account value is purchase ROAS multiplied by cost per purchase in USD. Successful classifications, including manual corrections, with positive finite spend, purchases, ROAS and cost per purchase. Accounts are counted once with equal weight. Quartiles use linear interpolation. Root cohorts include direct root classifications and their child categories; exact-child cohorts exclude parent and sibling categories. The source selects the highest-spend coverage row per account among snapshots dated within the preceding 30 days; the underlying reporting period is not supplied. This is a dated aggregate advertising-data snapshot, not business-wide AOV or a census. Parent and sibling benchmarks are never substituted.
