How should a niche creator describe the audience?

Describe the topic and intended viewer precisely, then use the platform's actual audience reports to check who watches. YouTube offers audience and content reports, but some demographic and traffic data can be limited.

Which content formats should be compared separately?

YouTube's Content reports can be filtered across videos, Shorts, live streams, posts and podcasts. Compare like formats and periods before interpreting a change in views or engagement.

Does a free product change an endorsement?

The FTC says a free or discounted product can create a material connection when the creator mentions it. A niche creator should disclose that relationship clearly for U.S.-facing endorsements; other jurisdictions may differ.

Can a niche creator use one viewer number as proof of buyer demand?

No. YouTube's analytics describes content reach and engagement, while shopping or order records describe commerce. A view does not establish that a viewer bought or wanted a product.

Benchmark status reviewed 11 October 2026.

The exact category cohort does not support a publishable AOV aggregate.

Median and middle 50% of account-level average order values. Each account value is purchase ROAS multiplied by cost per purchase in USD. Successful classifications, including manual corrections, with positive finite spend, purchases, ROAS and cost per purchase. Accounts are counted once with equal weight. Quartiles use linear interpolation. Root cohorts include direct root classifications and their child categories; exact-child cohorts exclude parent and sibling categories. The source selects the highest-spend coverage row per account among snapshots dated within the preceding 30 days; the underlying reporting period is not supplied. This is a dated aggregate advertising-data snapshot, not business-wide AOV or a census. Parent and sibling benchmarks are never substituted.
