In Britain, Octopus Tracker fixes its formula and standing charges for a 12-month term while daily unit rates change with wholesale prices. Regional formulas differ. Suggested practice: distinguish the fixed formula from the variable daily electricity rate instead of advertising a guaranteed fixed bill.
Octopus's Britain Tracker guidance requires an existing customer account and a working smart meter sending regular readings. Without a suitable meter, customers remain on a standard tariff until installation works. Suggested practice: qualify account and meter readiness before treating interest as an eligible tariff switch.
Octopus's UK FAQ says an existing fixed tariff without exit fees keeps those terms, Flexible has zero exit fees, and new fixed-rate fees are disclosed before switching. Suggested practice: identify the tariff and joining terms; the provider's March 2026 changes do not make every customer's exit fee identical.
Octopus's Britain Tracker FAQ says leaving within the 12-month term triggers a nine-month wait before rejoining. Leaving at term end without renewing avoids that wait. Suggested practice: explain the return restriction separately from fees; a no-exit-fee message does not mean immediate re-entry.

Research scope
Benchmark status reviewed 11 October 2026.
The exact category cohort does not support a publishable AOV aggregate.
Median and middle 50% of account-level average order values. Each account value is purchase ROAS multiplied by cost per purchase in USD. Successful classifications, including manual corrections, with positive finite spend, purchases, ROAS and cost per purchase. Accounts are counted once with equal weight. Quartiles use linear interpolation. Root cohorts include direct root classifications and their child categories; exact-child cohorts exclude parent and sibling categories. The source selects the highest-spend coverage row per account among snapshots dated within the preceding 30 days; the underlying reporting period is not supplied. This is a dated aggregate advertising-data snapshot, not business-wide AOV or a census. Parent and sibling benchmarks are never substituted.
