Why teams look beyond Motion, and how five alternatives compare on features, pricing, pros and cons.
Motion is a creative analytics platform for paid social, and that's also why teams start looking elsewhere: it starts at $999 a month, we found no rules that pause ads or change budgets, and the plans above $50,000 of ad spend aren't priced publicly. This guide compares five alternatives on what they do, how they differ from Motion and what they cost.
What is Motion, and why do teams look beyond it?
Motion (motionapp.com, not the calendar app of the same name) reads your ad data, tags each creative with AI and builds reports on which hooks, formats and angles work. Every plan also includes an AI teammate called Runneth that works inside Motion and Slack.
It has a 4.5 rating on G2 from 114 reviews. We found no switching stories from former customers, so these are the limits we found rather than reasons customers gave:
- A $999 starting price. Starter is $999 a month for up to $50,000 of monthly ad spend, and the Pro and Growth plans show a button to chat with sales instead of a price.
- Launching, but no rules. Its AI teammate, Runneth, names ads and launches them to Meta Ads Manager, but we found no rules that pause ads, scale budgets or change bids.
- Gaps beyond creative. We found no audience builder, account audit, rules that change ads or help with ad comments.
- Data and naming. 2 of its 10 most recent G2 reviews mention wrong data from the AI agent or reliance on consistent ad naming.

What to look for in a Motion alternative
- Whether it acts on your account or only reports on it.
- What the entry price is, and what it grows with: your ad spend, your users or your revenue.
- Whether creative analysis comes with a way to make new ads, so what you learn turns into work.
- Whether the AI you want is in the plan you'd buy, or needs a sales call to set up.
The 5 best Motion alternatives
1. Madgicx Best overall
Madgicx is an AI platform for Meta ads, used by ecommerce brands and agencies. It reviews your ad account, tells you what to do next and does much of the work once you approve it.
What it does: A list of next steps for your account, such as pausing ads that lose money or answering ad comments, which you approve or dismiss. A chat that answers questions on your account data and creates campaigns, ad sets and ads, paused until you approve. Ready-made and custom automation rules. Image ads generated from a prompt, from your own best ads or from real ads in a built-in library. Analysis of which creatives and lines of copy bring results. Ready-made and AI audiences. An account audit covering targeting, demographics, geography and auctions. Reports that combine Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Klaviyo and GA4, shared by link or PDF.
Compared with Motion: Motion analyses your ads and reports on them, and its AI teammate launches ads, but we found no rules that pause ads or change budgets. Madgicx recommends the next step, builds campaigns from a chat and makes image ads in every plan, at a price set by Meta spend only.
Pricing: One plan priced by monthly Meta spend: $45 a month up to $1,000 of spend, $129 up to $10,000 and $329 up to $30,000. Unlimited seats and ad generations, 15% off quarterly and 30% off annually, and a 7-day free trial. Prices for higher spend levels are on our pricing page.
Pros:
- AI recommends and builds, and nothing it proposes changes your ads until you approve it.
- The AI, rules and audiences come with every plan.
- The price is set by your Meta spend only, from $45 a month.
- 4.6 on G2 from 220+ reviews.
Cons:
- Campaign management is built for Meta, while Google Ads and TikTok data appear in reports.
- Generates image ads, not video.
2. Foreplay
Foreplay is an ad inspiration, competitor ad tracking and creative analytics tool for paid social creative teams.
What it does: Saves ads from TikTok and the Facebook Ad Library into folders and boards you can share with your team, with unlimited saves on every plan. A search engine over ads other users have saved, with AI creative analysis and filters. Competitor ad tracking around the clock, with up to three years of ad history. A creative analytics product, described in its help centre, with top performer and comparison reports, creative tests, benchmarking and scores. Its homepage also mentions briefs that turn inspiration into creative briefs.
Compared with Motion: built around researching other brands' ads, which Motion's pages mention only as a homepage agent, with creative analytics on its higher plans. We saw no actions that change an ad account. It costs far less to start.
Pricing: Priced by users and by the number of brands you track, with no pricing based on ad spend. Basic is $59 a month billed monthly, or $49 billed annually, for 1 user, and doesn't include creative analytics or competitor tracking. Agency is $459 a month, or $389 billed annually, for 10 users. Enterprise is custom. Paid plans have a 7-day free trial that needs a card.
Pros:
- Built for finding and saving ads, with unlimited saves.
- A much lower entry price than Motion.
- A 4.8 rating on G2 from 129 reviews, with competitor and ad research praised in 9 of the 10 most recent.
Cons:
- Creative analytics and competitor tracking aren't in the $59 Basic plan.
- We saw no rules, approval flows or actions that change an ad account.
- Extra users on Basic cost $20 each.
3. Atria
Atria is an AI creative strategy and analytics platform for paid social ads, with an ad library and AI ad generation.
What it does: An AI teammate called Raya that, per its site, analyses your ads, finds the personas, hooks and key messages that win, grades each ad and suggests fixes. A 24/7 AI strategist called Radar from the Core plan. An ad library with AI search, brand follows and boards for saved ads. AI concepts, scripts, ad copy and image generation, and batch uploads of creatives to Meta. A connector that lets you bring ad data into AI assistants.
Compared with Motion: overlaps on creative analysis and adds an ad library and AI ad generation, at a lower entry price. We found no help centre or documentation, so everything here comes from its own pages.
Pricing: Priced by monthly ad spend band, seats, ad accounts, AI credits and brands followed. Core is $129 a month billed annually, with extra seats at $20 each. Business is $959 a month billed annually, with unlimited ad spend and accounts, 15 seats and 25,000 AI credits. Enterprise is custom. There's a "Start for free" button and the trial length isn't stated.
Pros:
- Creative analysis, an ad library and AI ad generation in one tool.
- A lower entry price than Motion.
- The AI connector comes with every plan.
Cons:
- No documentation found, so its features rest on marketing copy.
- We saw no rules or approval flow, and which changes it can make in an ad account isn't stated.
- Monthly billing is $219 for Core, $549 for Plus and $1,549 for Business.
4. Superads
Superads is an AI platform for paid media creative analytics, with competitor ad tracking.
What it does: Dashboards and reports that highlight your best creatives. Ads auto-tagged by visual format, hook, product, angle and more. A score for each ad against your own history across hook, hold, click and conversion. Its homepage says fatigue is flagged, without detail, and that workflows can send reports to Slack, with email delivery marked as coming soon.
Compared with Motion: similar creative analytics, with a score for each ad, at a much lower price. We read only its homepage and pricing page, so depth is unverified.
Pricing: Priced by ad spend. Professional is from $125 a month, or $1,500 billed yearly (20% off), and covers up to $100,000 of monthly ad spend, plus $100 a month for each additional $100,000. There's a 14-day free trial, then monthly billing with no fixed contracts. Enterprise is custom and adds SSO and an uptime SLA.
Pros:
- A low entry price that covers up to $100,000 of monthly spend.
- AI tags and a score for each ad.
- A 14-day free trial.
Cons:
- Few details published for us to check: fatigue flagging has no detail, and we read only two pages.
- Email delivery for workflows is marked as coming soon.
5. Triple Whale
Triple Whale is an analytics platform for ecommerce brands, with an AI chat and automations.
What it does: Brings store, ad and email data into dashboards, with an SQL editor and segments. A creative table showing spend, ROAS, CTR and purchases for each ad, grouped by ad name, image, video or copy, one ad platform at a time. An AI chat called Moby that answers questions over your data in the app and in Slack. Automations that send scheduled reports, flag campaigns that cross thresholds you set and, on the Automate and Enterprise plans, propose or make budget and status changes.
Compared with Motion: adds store data and, on its higher plans, changes to your ads. Its creative table doesn't describe AI tagging or fatigue detection, though on the Automate plan it makes new variations of winning ads.
Pricing: A free plan with up to 10 users and limited AI use. Foundation, Automate and Enterprise are priced by annual store revenue on 12-month subscriptions, and you book a walkthrough to get a price. AI actions need Automate or Enterprise.
Pros:
- A free plan.
- Store, ad and email data in one place.
- A 4.5 rating on G2 from 482 reviews, with ease of use and setup praised in 5 of the 10 most recent.
Cons:
- The price grows with your store's revenue, and price was raised in 4 of its 10 most recent G2 reviews.
- AI actions need the Automate or Enterprise plan.
- Creative analysis is a table, not AI tagging.
