Where they differ
What each is built for
Motion reads your ad data, tags each Meta creative with AI and shows which hooks, formats and combinations perform. Foreplay is built around ad research: saving ads from TikTok and the Facebook Ad Library, searching them and tracking competitors. Its Lens product adds creative analytics from the Workflow plan up.
How the price grows
Motion's price follows your ad spend. $999 a month covers up to $50k, with unlimited seats and ad accounts, and above that prices are not published. Foreplay's price follows users and tracked brands: extra users are $20 each, and the Agency plan includes 10 users, 10 Lens brands and 50 Spyder brands. Foreplay says its prices do not depend on ad spend.
Analysing or acting
Motion's AI Tasks run when a person starts them, and its daily and weekly routines send reports and alerts. Its AI teammate, Runneth, names ads and launches them to Meta Ads Manager, its site says. Foreplay reads and organises ads, and we saw nothing that changes an ad account.
What reviewers say

Our verdict
Choose Motion if
- You want to know which hooks, formats and creative angles work in your own Meta ads.
- Your spend suits $999 a month for up to $50k, with unlimited seats and ad accounts.
- You want AI tasks and a chat that review your reports and suggest hook ideas.
Choose Foreplay if
- You research ads: saving them from TikTok and the Facebook Ad Library, searching and tracking competitors.
- You want a lower entry price, $49 a month billed annually, and a price that does not follow ad spend.
- Your team wants to share saved ads in folders and boards, with unlimited saves on every plan.
Neither fits when
You want the tool that analyses your ads to act on what it finds. Madgicx analyses which creatives and lines of copy bring results, and it also acts. It lists next steps for your account, which you approve or dismiss, and its chat creates campaigns, ad sets and ads, paused until you approve. Ready-made and custom automation rules are in every plan, from $45 a month.
How we compare: methodology
- Whether the tool analyses your own ads or other brands' ads.
- Cost, and whether it follows ad spend or users.
- Whether the tool also acts on an ad account, and who approves.
- What recent G2 reviewers praise and complain about.

We use each vendor's pricing and product pages, Motion's help centre and the 10 most recent G2 reviews we could read for each tool, with dates listed below. Motion's trial length and its Pro and Growth prices are not public. Foreplay's help centre was read as a list of article titles only. This is our editorial view of fit, not independent test results.
