AdCreative.ai vs Pencil: Credits and a 7-Day Trial, or Generations and Agents
AdCreative.ai fits marketers who want images, video and text from one tool, a 7-day trial and a score before launch. Pencil fits teams that want agents and a model trained on their own ad account, from $14 a month, with larger brands served through a sales-only plan.
Choose AdCreative.ai if you want images, video and text from one tool and a free trial to test it. Choose Pencil if you want a low entry price and scoring trained on your own ad account's data. If you also need campaigns built from a chat and analysis of your live ads, Madgicx does that with unlimited seats and ad generations, from $45 a month.

Where they differ
How the price grows
AdCreative.ai sells credits that are used when you download an ad, and its plans also differ by brands and users. Pencil sells monthly generations: 50 on Core and 250 on Growth, with unlimited generations only on its sales-only Pro plan. The two count different things, so compare what each plan produces, not the counts. Pencil's pricing table marks almost every feature Coming soon, including video and the Facebook integration, so we could not use it to tell what each plan includes.
Who each is built for
AdCreative.ai is a self-serve creative tool, with plans from $39 a month. Pencil is owned by The Brandtech Group, and its news page names larger brands and agencies, with enterprise terms on its sales-only Pro plan. We read its $14 Core plan as aimed at small teams.
Scoring and analysis
Both score new creatives. AdCreative.ai predicts which uploaded ads will perform better. Pencil trains a model on your own ad account's history to score them, and shows which of your creatives perform best and why. Pencil's pages do not describe analysis of individual copy lines, and AdCreative.ai's pages give little detail on its insights feature.
Agents and reviews
Pencil launched Scribble on 28 September 2026, an agent that reads a brief, runs creative work in the background and lets you review its plan before it starts. Its workflows can run on schedules. We saw no agents on AdCreative.ai's pages. In Pencil's G2 reviews, 3 of the 10 we read mention off-brand output that needs manual edits and 3 mention instability or export problems, though only 3 of those 10 are from 2025 or later. For AdCreative.ai, 2 of 10 recent reviews raise billing, refund or cancellation handling and 2 of 10 mention bugs or poor output.
Price
| Example | AdCreative.ai | Pencil |
|---|---|---|
| A solo marketer | Starter: $39 a month, or $29 billed quarterly (20 credits, 1 brand, 1 user) | Core: $14 a month, or $11 billed annually (50 generations, 1 workspace) |
| A small team | Professional: $249 a month, or $185 billed quarterly (300 credits, 10 users) | Growth: $55 a month, or $44 billed annually (250 generations, unlimited workspaces) |
| A larger team | Ultimate: $999 a month, or $749 billed quarterly (20 users). Enterprise is custom | Pro: custom, sold through a demo (unlimited generations, users and brands) |
Our verdict
Choose AdCreative.ai if
- You want images, video and ad text from one tool, with a score for ads before launch.
- You want a 7-day free trial with 20 credits before you pay.
- You want competitors' best-performing ads in the same tool as your creative.
Choose Pencil if
- You want a low entry price: Core is $14 a month, or $11 billed annually.
- You want a model trained on your own ad account data to score new creatives and show which of yours perform best.
- You want agents such as Scribble to run creative work from a brief, within your brand guidelines.
Neither fits when
You need what happens after the creative. Madgicx creates campaigns, ad sets and ads from a chat, paused until you approve, and analyses which creatives and lines of copy bring results on your live ads. It also lists next steps you approve or dismiss, and has ready-made and custom automation rules and ready-made and AI audiences. Seats and ad generations are unlimited in every plan, from $45 a month. It generates image ads, not video.
How we compare: methodology
- What each tool generates: images, video and text.
- What the price buys: credits or generations.
- Whether the tool scores new ads, analyses live ads or both.
- What recent G2 reviewers praise and complain about, and how recent the reviews are.
Published by Madgicx, whose ad creation and analysis overlap with both tools. We use each vendor's pricing and product pages, Pencil's help centre, blog and feature hub, and the most recent G2 reviews we could read (10 for each tool), with dates listed below. AdCreative.ai's own pricing page did not load, so its plans come from its home page. Pencil's own pages disagree on video and on launching, so we mark both as unconfirmed. This is our editorial view of fit, not independent test results. Confirm any capability not listed here with the vendor.
Frequently asked questions
Which is cheaper, AdCreative.ai or Pencil?
Pencil at the entry level. Core is $14 a month, or $11 billed annually, against AdCreative.ai's Starter at $39 a month, or $29 billed quarterly. They count different things: Pencil sells generations and AdCreative.ai sells credits used on download.
Does Pencil have a free trial?
No trial of the full platform and no free plan. A guided sign-up lets a new user create six ads at no cost. AdCreative.ai's home page lists a 7-day free trial with 20 credits.
Can Pencil make video ads?
Its blog and home page present video generation as live, including Google's Veo models in Pencil Pro, but its pricing table marks AI video as Coming soon on every plan. Ask Pencil which plan includes it.
Can Pencil launch campaigns in my ad account?
Its help centre describes exporting finished creatives to connected ad accounts and does not mention creating campaigns or setting budgets. Its pricing and integrations pages say it launches or publishes ads, so its own pages disagree. Its September 2026 Scribble post says a link between creative and media buying is coming later.
