A Meta ads MCP is a connector that lets Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, read your Meta ad account and take actions on it, using the Model Context Protocol. You add the connector, sign in and approve access, and then you can ask Claude about your ads in plain words.
TL;DR
- MCP is an open standard that lets an AI assistant use outside tools and data.
- A Meta ads MCP server exposes ad account actions to the assistant.
- Meta offers its own connectors in open beta. Partners such as Madgicx run theirs.
- Claude can read results and, if allowed, change status, budgets and bids.
- Start with read-only questions, and keep approval on for changes.
- Use only servers you trust, because an assistant acts on real budgets.
What is MCP in plain terms?
Picture a travel adapter. Your assistant has one kind of plug, and every ad platform has a different socket. MCP is the adapter: a shared standard that Anthropic introduced in November 2024 so an assistant can reach tools and data the same way each time. A server for Meta ads sits on the other side and offers a list of actions, such as "get campaign results" or "pause this ad".
Let Madgicx's AI do the work
Its AI marketer finds what's working and prepares the next move. You approve.

| Source | What it is | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Meta | Meta Ads AI Connectors, with an ads MCP server and a command-line tool | In open beta, works with AI tools for creating, managing and analyzing campaigns |
| Partners | MCP servers from ad platforms, such as Madgicx's | Add their own analysis to the data and manage their own approvals |
PPC Land reports that Meta's connectors work with Claude and ChatGPT.
What does a session look like?
You open a chat with the connector switched on and ask:
- "Which ads spent more than their share last week without purchases?"
- "Why did cost per purchase rise on Tuesday?"
- "Which creative is getting tired?"
Claude calls the server, reads the data and answers with numbers from your account. If you then say "pause the three ads that wasted spend", it prepares those changes. With approvals on, it asks you to confirm before anything runs. Afterward you check the result in Ads Manager.
The conversation is a thin layer over the same data Ads Manager shows, so spot-check the first answers against it.
What can Claude do through a Meta ads MCP?
It depends on the server. Madgicx's server, for example, can analyze Meta ad accounts and take action on status, budgets, bids, spending limits and names. Other servers may offer fewer or more actions. Read the action list before you connect.
How do you connect it?
- Open Claude's connector directory and find the connector. Madgicx's is listed in the directory.
- Add it and sign in to the ad platform when asked.
- Authorize the ad accounts the connector may use. Pick only the ones you need.
- Start a new chat and select the connector.
- Ask a read-only question first, and compare the answer with Ads Manager.
Madgicx's client setup guide covers Claude and other assistants step by step. Our post on connecting Meta ads to Claude walks through the options.
How do you keep it safe?
- Use read-only access until you trust the answers.
- Keep approval on for any write action.
- Authorize only the accounts you need.
- Use servers from providers you trust, since assistants act on real budgets.
- Review what changed each week.
Our post on the safe way to connect AI assistants to Meta ads explains permissions further.
Where Madgicx fits
Madgicx runs the Madgicx Facebook MCP, which lets Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents analyze Meta ad accounts and take action on status, budgets, bids, spending limits and names. It is included with Madgicx plans, and write actions ask for your approval. Inside Madgicx, AI Marketer prepares actions for you to review before they launch.
FAQ
Is the Meta ads MCP free?
Meta's connectors are in open beta, and partner servers vary. Madgicx's is included with Madgicx plans, and your ad spend is paid to Meta as usual.
Do I need to code to use it?
No, connecting a server in Claude is a few clicks and a sign-in. Meta's command-line tool is for technical users.
Can Claude change my ads without asking?
Only if you allow it. Choose a connector that asks for approval on write actions.
Does Claude work with Google Ads too?
Madgicx also offers a Google Ads MCP for analysis, but it is a separate connector. Check each server's action list.
Is an MCP the same as an API?
No, an API is the underlying interface, and an MCP server wraps actions in a standard way that assistants can use.
