As you may have heard, Facebook is on the path to making some big changes. We’re here to tell you what to expect, how to prepare for it and what we can offer to help you manage the changes.

In 2019 Facebook will be making Campaign Budget Optimization mandatory from September onwards. What is Campaign Budget Optimisation (CBO)? Facebook automatically and continuously finds the best available opportunities for results across ad sets and distributes the campaign budget in real time so you can get the best results.

This change will incrementally scale the importance of automation which will gain back power over your budgets.

The overall goal for Facebook’s upcoming change in CBO is to automatically migrate all eligible campaigns- this means that you will not be able to set ad set level budgets anymore and there will be no other option than CBO for your advertisements.

How has Madgicx prepared for these changes:

Madgicx has already tested the CBO function receiving great results. To get the best results, Madgicx has adapted their automation tactics to be accessible with CBOs offering dynamics that are compatible with surf, stop loss, and safety net functions.

While Madgicx is prepared to get ahead of the Facebook changes, advertisers should prepare themselves as well so they can use the upcoming force-enabled CBO function to their benefit.

CBO has already proven to be effective for retargeting because of its dynamic distribution of budgets along the user journey. This is important, especially for small to mid spenders, as retargeting budgets will be adjusted to the fluctuations in website traffic.

But also for customer acquisition purposes CBOs have demonstrated great strength. Madgicx has found the best result using the following budget distribution:

½ the Cost per goal Events (Purchase for example) * number of ad sets = Campaign Budget

If you cost per purchase for example is at 100$ and you’re planning to launch let’s say five Lookalike variations, we would recommend starting off at a daily budget of 250$.

What does this mean? Start experimenting now so you can see how CBO works best with your business and stay tuned for further update notices of Madgicx to stay ahead of the curve.
